The 5

Most Successful Fighters of '97.

Oscar De La Hoya
1:Five world title fights, five victories and one new belt to Oscar's collection. Defeated undefeated Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Pernell Whitaker, Hector Camacho and was the first to kayo Wilfredo Rivera and David Kamau.
2:Naseem HamedWon his first "real" world title against long reigning Tom Johnson and then followed up with kayoes over Kevin Kelley, Billy Hardy, Jose Badillo and Juan Caberera.
3:Evander HolyfieldAlthough his victories over Tyson and Moorer were overrated, Holyfield fought and defeated two top fighters. His fight with Tyson ended inconclusively, but his win over Moorer not only avenged a previous defeat, but it also partially unified the title.
4:Vince PhillipsNot only did Vince come back from a controversial loss (to Romallis Ellis) and upset a rising superstar, but he also dismissed two good challengers; Mickey Ward (on cuts) and Freddie Pendleton.
5:Arturo GattiGatti easily beat Tracey Patterson in a highly anticipated rematch and followed up with a stoppage of Calvin Grove and a thrilling kayo of Gabriel Ruelas. However, '98 hasn't been as kind.
