The 5

Most Disappointing Matches of the Year.

1:Evander Holyfield-Mike Tyson IIAfter the most pathetic undercard in Pay Per View history, the fans who payed $49.95-55.95 were expecting a helluva fight. After all, Tyson was motivated and it was doubtful that Holyfield could perform as well as he did in their first fight.
2:Lennox Lewis-Andrew GolotaA great match-up on paper, but not in the ring. Lewis steamrolled Golota in 95 seconds.
3:Pernell Whitaker-Oscar De La HoyaIt was supposed to be a classic match-up, the undefeated superstar versus the long reigning Welterweight king. However, it turned out to be an action-free chess match.
4:Lennox Lewis-Henry AkinwandeThe newly crowned champion versus an undefeated rising star. It looked to be an excellent fight on paper, but turned into a hug-fest when Akinwande decided not do anything. Ended in a disqualification that was particularly disappointing considering that Tyson was disqualified just two weeks before.
5:Vince Phillips-Mickey WardAlthough this was not a major fight, it was an entertaining one. It was a very competitieve brawl until a nasty gash opened over Ward's eye and the doctor prematurely stopped the fight. Well, at least we got to see another Bob Arum temper-tantrum.
